The Orcas Choral Society is a non-profit music organization dedicated to the love and appreciation of choral music. The 60-voice volunteer chorus is led by Roger Sherman, a full -time Orcas Island resident who has a deep appreciation of the choral repertoire. Roger is a multi-disciplined musician, recording engineer and producer who has published several Grammy-nominated recordings of choral music.
Since its founding by Catherine Pederson and Louellen McCoy in 1978, The Orcas Choral Society has provided a structure for adults to sing a wide variety of choral music at a consistently high level and to present choral concerts for island audiences.

Orcas Choral Society to perform
Mozart’s Requiem:
a cultural icon
and choral masterpiece
No single piece of classical music has
generated as much speculation, rumor,
and mythology as Mozart’s Requiem.
The Requiem’s heart-wrenching beauty
and awesome power confirms the
genius of Mozart even in the last days
of his short life. Mozart may have drawn
inspiration from the works of Bach and
Handel but the style is similar to his
opera The Magic Flute that was
completed just before he started work
on the Requiem.
April 21 at Orcas Center
April 28 at St Mark's Cathedral
in Seattle. 2:30 pm. Donation at door.
